Virtex-4LX board with PCIe interface: PCIeV4BASE

A PCI-Express board with XILINX™ VIRTEX-4™ FPGA, 512 MByte SO-DIMM memory module and a 78-pin HD-SUB connector. A slot located between the FPGA and the HD-SUB connector allows plugging customer specific electronic boards. FPFA configuration is possible at any time without the need of download cables or programming devices via PCIe (design download-software included).

	Three oscillators provide clocks for the FPGA and the local bus of the PCIe-bridge. Optional, additional clocks can be provided by plug-in boards. One slot for plug-in boards is available. It is connected to the FPGA and to the HD-SUB connector by 100-pin connectors respectively. User-specific hardware-extensions as ADC's, DAC's, PHY's or other devices can be addd easily this way. The busmaster PCI-Express interface is implemeted using an additional device, the PEX 8311. No PCI-Express core is needed in your FPGA design. No detailed knowledge about the PCI-bus is needed to transfer data beween the FPGA and the user-software running on the PC. The example design coming with the board shows how to implement communication using the Wishbone interface The FPGA-device is connected to a SO-DIMM socket. By default the board comes with fast 512-MByte DDR2 SDRAM memory installed.
